- How long does the internal battery normally last?
Under normal conditions, the internal battery will last approximately 1 hour. However, this is dependant on many factors such as: ventilator settings, battery charge level, and condition or age of the battery. Use of the internal battery as a standard operating practice is not recommended.

- What are your recommendations for optimal battery life?
The internal battery should only be used for very short terms, and not used as a regular mode of power.
If at all possible, never leave a battery in a discharged state. The longer it is left in a discharged state, the more difficult it will be to recharge the battery.
For external batteries, store in a cool, dry area. In most cases, it is ok to leave them connected to battery charger to ensure they have a full charge when needed.
Unused or infrequently used batteries should be charged for 24 hours every other month.

- How long does the external battery normally last?
This is dependant on the size of battery being used. Pulmonetic Systems sells batteries that can last approximately 3, 4, or 9 hours.

- Can I use any external battery with your ventilator?
No. Pulmonetic Systems only recommends using batteries that we sell as we have done the appropriate testing to ensure they function properly with our ventilators.

- Will the LTV ventilator charge the external battery?
The LTV ventilator does not have the capability to charge the external battery. A separate, external charger must be used.

- Can the external battery actually charge the internal battery?
Yes. The internal battery can charge from any external source plugged in to power the ventilator. This includes A/C power, all of the external batteries, and cigarette lighter plug adapter cable.

- Why are all of the displays blank on my ventilator, yet the ventilator is still operating?
The ventilator is running on its internal battery. The displays will shut off after X time to help conserve battery power.

- How long does it take to recharge the internal battery?
If the battery were completely depleted, it would take a minimum of 8 hours to completely recharge the internal battery.
Back to section Back to top
- How long does it take to recharge the external battery?
The small 3 hour battery will normally fully recharge in about 4 hours. The larger 9 hour battery will recharge in about 9-10 hours. This is assuming the p/n 10801 external battery charger is being used.

- My internal battery is no longer holding charge. Can I replace this myself?
The internal battery can only be replaced by Pulmonetic Systems, Inc. trained technicians.

- I am traveling to a different country. Will the ventilator run on 220/240 voltage?
The ventilator will run on voltages from 100-240V with no issues. There are no settings or changes that have to be made to do this. However, an adapter may be needed for the plug to properly fit into the wall outlet.

- How often is the internal battery replaced?
The internal battery is normally replaced at time of PM (preventive maintenance). This should be done every 2 years, or 10,000 hours of operating time, whichever comes first. However, if the internal battery is used frequently, it may need to be replaced more often.

- What is the nominal power draw of the LTV ventilator?
At nominal settings, the LTV Ventilator will draw approximately 66 watts. After startup, the draw is approximately 36-48 watts.

- Will my battery discharge if I place it on a concrete floor?
No. Concrete does not drain external batteries. Discharge rate is related to storage temperature. The warmer a storage area is, the faster it will deplete an external battery. Each ten-degree drop in ambient temperature in the storage area doubles the shelf life of the battery.

- How long will the Lithium Ion batteries power the vent?
Each battery will power the vent for approximately 4 hours, assuming the battery is in good condition, fully charged, etc. With the LTM Graphics Monitor attached, the battery will power the ventilator and LTM Graphics Monitor for approximately 3 hours.
